John D. combines gutter rap with all genres of EDM to bring from the poor to the wealthy (largely divided by race) together & donates all sales profits to Love Hope Strength a cancer relief charity to inspire bigger artists to donate to charity. John D. Overcomes Cancer, Addiction, Mental Illness & Releases Exclusive Trap EDM with Tech N9ne & Paul Wall for Cancer Relief Charity John began writing music as a homeless heroin addict living in a Dallas d**e house closet. He was taken in by the poor in a low-income housing project. He got clean and sober in his late teens, staying clean for over 10 years now. After recovering from drug addiction and earning entrance to Southern Methodist University (SMU) John was struck with severe hallucinatory bipolar disorder. As a result, he could not read, found it difficult to speak, and hallucinated seeing imaginary people. Here John taught himself to produce the music he had been writing. John got well, returned to SMU, and graduated earning Distinction in the Philosophy Department and winning the Hoskins Award for Essay Writers. John returned to low-income housing projects working for a non-profit, Dallas based The Texas Tenant's Union, this time to help as an advocate for the poor in Texas low-income housing projects. This is where John began producing rap music. He won the Dean's Scholarship to a Texas A&M Law School for his work with the low-income families and the DFW homeless. John was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2011. A malignant and significantly life-threatening tumor was found on his left kidney. The cancer had not yet spread from his kidney and was surgically removed. He has been cancer free for four years. John donates all his song sales profits to a cancer relief charity, Love Hope Strength. John D. has released several musical works he has done with artists Tech N9ne, Paul Wall, and several world-famous EDM artists. He recently performed all and only his original EDM works live at Edgefest 2015.
