简介
Inspired by great selections from operas, this hour-long album is purposefully designed to serve as background music for your yoga practice, meditation, or relaxation. Robert Swedberg, former director of The Orlando Opera selected 18 of the most peaceful works from a wide range of operas and turned to composer and arranger Alex Davis to find instrumental accompaniments that would specifically support the long, deep breaths that are fundamental to yoga and meditative exercises. Opera Classics was created with a specific arc in mind; energy builds from the album's opening moments, the Meditation from Thais and Largo from Xerxes, and evolves into more rich, powerful tones through the awakening light of the Fidelio chorus. As the album comes to a close, the music becomes more sustained again to inspire peacefulness, deep relaxation and reflection. When played in sequence, these tracks’ beautiful textures and sustained notes provide an ideal background for any type of yoga or meditation class. However, taken out of context, each track provides its own unique listening experience. The tracks can be played in any order, and need not be in sync with any part of a practice. -------- Alex Davis is a composer living in Asheville NC, where he actively writes for film, television, and dance productions across the country. His work has been featured inconcert at New York University, Lincoln Center, NC School of the Arts, Florida State University, and on numerous television networks, including the Sundance Channel, History Channel, and ESPN.
