My new single Can I Be Me is to send a message that it's ok to be who you are. It's a girls anthem. Make sure to read a new story about me- Read all of it! My name is Destiny Underwood I'm a 13yr old independent unsigned artist. In almost two months I will be 14 and started 8th grade this year! I want to share my story with you. My parents named me Destiny Cashma Underwood. haha there is a story behind my middle name. I will share that with you later. I'm biracial and love having the best of b oth worlds. In my baby book my mom wrote I think she will grow up to be a singer. She said I would sing and dance to music all the time. My mom said when I was in her tummy she would let me listen to classical music. It's no different now still listening and singing to music with my headphones in. I knew I wanted to become a singer when I started singing at 3yrs old. The first two artists to inspire me was Mariah Carey & Usher. I would sing for hours in my room over and over. At 5yrs old I won my first talent show . After that I entered talent shows in my school and I won people choice award. I also made sure to be in chorus at school. When I hit the stage and performed I knew this was my passion. I wrote my first original song when I was 9yrs old. My first song I wrote was titled "Just Shine" it was telling others to shine no matter what. My next song I wrote is when my grandfather passed away. At 11yrs old I knew I wanted to let my voice be heard around the world. At my age with little money I was not sure how to get started. So I started my YouTube channel in March of 2010 singing covers. I went on to perform in Atlanta and performed a cover song and my original christmas song at the Apache Cafe for the Time 2 Shine Show. Since 3yrs old I knew I wanted to be a singer. I grew up in a small town trying to make a way and was making the best out of what I have. I was determined to become a singer and share my voice with the world. With my parents having very little money they have went above and beyond to help me with my dream. So thankful to have family that supports me. In 2011 I entered into a talent show in Snellville, GA and was the winner of the talent show. During that talent show I met my future vocal and artist development coach. I started my vocal lessons in 2012 and will soon start taking piano lessons. I recorded my first song "Can I Be Me" wrote & produced with HawWah and it was ava to purchase in Feburary 2012. On the same date I had open my YouTube channel 3 years earlier I uploaded my first official video of my own single! I had always talked about doing it and it was amazing for it to all come together! So it was an unreal experience. In May 2012 I entered into a talent show to have the chance to be an opening act for Diggy Simmons for his Macon, GA concert. I was blessed to be one of the winners selected to be an opening act. Other acts performing that night was OMG Girlz, and Jacob Latimore. That night was an amazing experience! Over the summer of 2012 I performed in Columbus and Atlanta GA. My new single "Girl Is It U" was released July 2012 it was also wrote & produced by HawWah. I have auditioned for things before and was not picked. I have been told NO before. So no matter what just keep going. If you have a passion let it out and let it shine. You can't let things stop you. I have a long way to go to get to where I want to be. I will keep pushing and you should too! I'm so thankful for all my supporters and fans who have been there from day 1 when I uploaded my first video cover. Also thankful for all my new supporters that I have gained. Thank you for helping me make my dreams and passions come true! Now have almost 430,000 views on my video's. Thank you for being on this journey to my destiny with me. Just wanted to share a little bit more of my story with you. There are no limits to what WE can do unless WE limit ourselves!
