简介
Legendary guitarist Steve Edmonds has accumulated many miles and milestones over his 30 + years as a professional guitarist in the Australian Blues and Roots community. His extensive sideman credits range from such roots heavy weights as Renee Geyer, Jimmy Barnes, Billy Thorpe, Doug Parkinson, Doug Williams, Headhunters and The Hippos to pop icons such as Delta Goodrem, Shannon Noll, Wendy Mathews, Margaret Urlich and Human Nature. A career spanning many genres of music has only served to sharpen Edmonds' focus on the guitar itself and with 'MESCALERO', Steve's third solo CD offering, he revisits his favourite styles of guitar music. 'MESCALERO' is a collection of original songs penned from 1950's rockabilly/roots inspiration. The songs draw from a deep pool of vintage resources blossoming in rockabilly, western swing, jazz, surf guitar, ska and country flavours. Immersed in a reverb drenched, analogue soup 'MESCALERO' recites the poetry of rock and roll parody and dark humour (kind of like a certain know it all Australian guitarist fighting with Sam Phillips in the hallowed Memphis Sun Studios circa 1952... if you will?) A handpicked band featuring Sydney Jazz stalwart Tony Georgeson on drums and guest artists Lawrie Minson on Lap Steel, Sue Carson on Violin, Luke Gallon on Sax and Steve Kiely on Keys, brings each song to life with a distinct identity whilst maintaining a true live band sound. Overall 'MESCALERO' displays Edmonds' broad taste in music, love of vintage guitar styles, dark sense of humour and individual song writing chops. 'MESCALERO' is a fun record with a wide variety of appeal for lovers of roots music. We hope you enjoy!
