简介
Caroline Cobb’s latest project, The Blood + The Breath: Songs that Sing the Story of Redemption, takes the listener on a journey through scripture, beginning with creation and ending with the second coming of Christ, with every song pointing to Jesus’ death and resurrection. The idea for this album originated with a songwriting goal that Caroline gave herself in late 2010: to write a song for every book of the Bible in just one year, with the deadline being 11/11/11, her thirtieth birthday. Produced by Josh Moore (Derek Webb, Matthew Perryman Jones, Sandra McCracken) and recorded at Shane & Shane’s studio near Dallas, the album is made up of several songs from that “year of biblical writing.” The album will be pre-sold on iTunes, and will officially release everywhere on June 3, 2013. “The Bible is full of stories,” says Caroline, “But during my year of writing songs from the Bible, I began to see that all of the stories in scripture are really telling one, grand Story: a story of redemption, a story of a loving God who ransoms us from sin and death through the death and resurrection of his own son. This album is my humble attempt to tell that Story.” The Blood + The Breath is rich both musically and lyrically, with every sound and word meaningful and deliberate. Caroline’s lyrics are poignant and thoughtful; she faithfully yet creatively engages with scripture, taking care to communicate both the feeling and truths from each story. The album begins and ends with “From Him, To Him”, a beautiful worship song based on Paul’s reverent description of God in Romans 11:33-36. Written from Jesus’ perspective, “Gethsemane (A Heavy Load to Carry),” allows the listener to feel the weight of Jesus’ agonizing sorrow on the night of his betrayal. “Wake Up,” a song based on 1 Corinthians 15, is at once hopeful and aching, summarizing the gospel message and charging the listener to be ready for Jesus’ second coming. The album also covers creation, the Fall, God’s promise to Abraham, the Passover, prophecies of Isaiah and Ezekiel, the sermon on the mount, the resurrection, the coming of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus’ return. To accompany the album, Caroline has also created a 50-page devotional book, filled with devotionals, artwork, scripture references, and song stories for each of the twelve songs on the album. Talented illustrators Chris Koelle (Austin Stone’s The History of Salvation, Desiring God’s Job the Film) and Jim LePage (Old New Project creator), as well as many other artists contributed their work, and several of Caroline’s friends involved in vocational ministry wrote the devotionals. “I want people to be able to richly experience this Story of redemption. I want them to not only be able to hear it through the songs, but to see it in the artwork, to meditate on it through the devotionals, and to apply it to their everyday through the reflection questions.” Caroline is planning to tour the album in the summer and fall of 2013. At each concert, she will tell the story of scripture through her songs, sharing the context behind each one to help paint a full picture of the biblical narrative. Each concert will be a journey through scripture, an experience of God’s great redemption story. “This is the Story that brings significance and hope to my story, and I am humbled to tell it. I pray that – somehow – as people listen to these songs, read these devotionals, and come to the concerts, that they would experience not only this beautiful story of redemption, but also the Redeemer Himself. I know that these songs have encouraged me, and I hope they do the same for others.” For more information, please visit Caroline Cobb’s official website. ————————————————————————————– About Caroline Cobb: In the year before her 30th birthday, Caroline Cobb – a singer-songwriter and full-time stay-at-home mom – gave herself a crazy goal: write a song for every, single book of the Bible in just one year, by the time she turned 30 on 11/11/11. Now, using several of the songs written during that “year of biblical songwriting,” Caroline has returned to the studio to record her third album: a concept album that tells the story of redemption from the Bible. Song by song, this album takes the listener on a journey through scripture, beginning with creation and ending with the second coming of Christ, with every song pointing to Jesus’ death, resurrection, and return. The Blood + The Breath: Songs that Sing the Story of Redemption was produced by Josh Moore (Derek Webb, Matthew Perryman Jones, Sandra McCracken) and recorded at Shane & Shane’s studio near Dallas. The Blood + The Breath is expected to release in late May or early June of 2013. Caroline lives and works in Tyler, TX with her husband, Nick, and their two children, Ellie and Harrison.
