‘Matthew North is a talented musician who is able to combine elements of disparate genres in a seamless and coherent fashion’ - Kim Harten, Bliss/Aquamarine ‘Now thats what I call music’ - Riviera FM DJ Jackson Cooper Matthew North, the driving force behind All Living Fear and Secrets for September, whist keeping his band options open, is now also plying his trade as a solo performer with increasing confidence. Born in Torquay in Devon Matthew North has been making music for over twenty years. He was initially the founder member of the band All Living Fear that had great success in the 90s and into the last decade, before branching out on his own in many new and successful directions. Matthew North is primarily a guitarist and currently playing in the folk and progressive influenced band ‘Secrets for September’, as well as appearing in other bands and occasionally guesting with the legendary Arthur Brown, who had a number one hit in the 60s with ‘Fire’, but Matthew is now concentrating on performing as a solo singer songwriter. He started playing acoustically in 2009 at various open mic nights and acoustic showcases in between duties in his various bands including sharing the bill with modern folk pop icon Frank Turner. This year will see Matthew release his debut CD of solo acoustic songs kicking off with a single entitled ‘Something Memorable’, a song originally performed by Exeter band ‘Falling Trees’ whom Matthew played guitar for in the last 6 months of the band’s existence. In his various bands Matthew has shared the bill with Hawkwind, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Spear of Destiny, The Damned, Curved Air, All About Eve, Mostly Autumn and Lene Lovich to name a few. Matthew has been performing around various venues in Devon and Cornwall as well as further afield in London and Bristol, and has been picking up rave reviews for his recordings with Secrets for September, National Pastime and as a solo performer. He recently performed live, recorded and released his instrumental album VALENTINE 2 within just 24 hours, a remarkable achievement. Continue to watch this space!
