Living Room, Andrew's first recording of his new songs in 9 years, features a blend of historical, spiritual, personal and political themes, plus "Born a Chicken"! 12 previously unrecorded, 2 old songs reworked, an epic take with the gang of "The Crawdad Song" and a setting of "The Musical Instrument," Elizabeth Barrett Browning's last poem. Living Room was recorded in various living rooms by Greg Figge with additional solo tracks recorded by Andrew at home on the Zoom and Tracy Grammer’s tracks added in Doylestown, PA. The Musical Instrument - a setting of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s last poem, with Lana Ferrante Lupiani on cello. 5. Jesus Born (Child of God) - original guitar-based gospel, with Runako Robinson, Casey Calhoun and Big Llou Johnson on vocals. 6. Shout! - from readings in American history and immersion in the folk spirituals, expressing faith in the energy and power of song rituals. 7. Dakota - written after attending a Lakota sundance in Northern Nebraska. Gary Cleland double-tracked bowed and plucked bass to create this effect. 8. The Gates of Love - reworking of 1984 song originally released as title track of Flying Fish LP #341. Tracy Grammer lights it up on violin and vocals, joined by Casey, Runako and Big Llou’s singing, Gary’s bass and Lana’s cello. 9. Born a Chicken - “That’s ragtime.” - Eubie Blake. 10. Crawdad Song - At 5:48, this is the dance mix, with Darwin McBeth Walton on hand drum and vocals, Basho on fiddle, Gary on bass, Runako, Big Llou, Jenn Rawling and Jenifer Jordan on vocals, and Big Llou’s running commentary. 11. Rabbit - a fool gets wise over some snappy fingerpicking. 12. Where You Gonna Sit Now? - Andrew’s latest song and favorite track here. 13. Only For Love - A hard-won, sparsely arranged song of acceptance. 14. Freedom Road - first written 1976, lyrically and musically reworked; guitar, bass, cello and violin make a string quartet and Tracy sings harmony. 15. Of Thee I Never Weary - a love song played on the classical guitar. 16. Moon and Sea - Basho Parks plays the moonlight on the violin, Lana carries the deep sea. My family has a cottage on Matinicus Island, Maine, where I’ve been going since I was born and wish to be scattered in a few decades. Chaos returning to peace is the theme.
