The four tracks on Colour Me In where never written to be placed onto an EP. Instead they all just fell in place together as they were the songs I felt said the most about me and my music. 'Dancing In The Clouds' and 'Ribbon Cages' were written when I was 16 but both came together very differently. 'Dancing In The Clouds' was a song I had a lot of fun with putting together, it was more upbeat and uptempo than anything I'd written before whereas 'Ribbon Cages' was much more thought out. It was the first song I based around my feelings and although the meaning behind it isn't upbeat at all, I tried to blend it with a guitar part that could give it a different edge. I wrote 'Angel City' and 'Fate Can Be Kind' at the age of 17 at a time I was maturing and entering a different style with my music. 'Angel City' was the song I tried to strip and allow it to be fragile whereas 'Fate Can Be Kind' was the song I can truely say I found myself as a performer. Although the inspiration wasn't about myself, it was the song I became confident enough to push my boundaries. When it came to putting the EP together and having the opportunity to work with a band, I felt my songs come alive. With lush chords on the piano to rock-out drums, I had never felt so inspired before. Making the EP was the best experience I could have had as a person and more importantly a musician. To have had that experience and hear my music come together is not only so amazing but a taste of what I want more of!
