About “On a Plane With Mary Jane”, by Chemical Fred (chemicalfred@gmail.com): (Also available on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, etc.) This 420 song takes you back to great times when nothing else mattered more than hanging out with friends and watching the "cannabis clouds go by." As a rockin' funny melodic tune, On a Plane with Mary Jane is like a mix of Green Day and Adam Sandler. "Mom said Fred go pull some weeds, so I opened my dime-bag I did indeed. Or "Sorry didn't make it to USC. Got my degree from THC. My zig-zag diploma is my reality." "My eyes are red but I see green. Never go without my visine"... The music for On a Plane With Mary Jane was recorded at the legendary 4th Street Recording in Santa Monica/LA. The vocals were taped in Fred's bathroom. Trivia: Jim Morrison recorded LA Woman in a restroom. 4th Street Recording is the same place No Doubt, Weird Al, Alice Cooper, Incubus, Hoobastank, and a long list of bands recorded their tracks. Across the street from the 3rd street promenade, this facility has the coolest vibe inside. Part of the appeal of this place is its location but also the engineers tell me that it’s the perfect set-up for music recording. The old school quality mic on this tune was the same kind of mic Jimi Hendrix used. Special thanks to engineer “Sejo” (pronounced SAY-ho) for producing and editing the tracks, and playing guitars for the song. Sejo’s buddy ripped on drums for this track. Check out Sejo’s band Vicious Licks (myspace.com/viciouslicks) Once the music tracks were completed, Chemical Fred sang and recorded the vocals at home. Special thanks to “Stooley” Mike for bringing the 3 foot bong over for special sound effects. Chemical Fred brought the vocals back to the studio for final mixing before getting mastered by legendary Dave Collins (www.davecollinsmastering.com) Thanks Dave! Fred was stoked to discover that Dave has mastered tunes for some classic rock fav’s including Motley Crue and Black Sabbath. If your name is Fred Jabbar well there’s no relation to you real or implied. It’s just a fictitious name we conjured up. Just be glad people ‘round the world will be thinking of you every time a “cannabis cloud” goes by. Have a question? Want lyric sheet? Email Fred at: chemicalfred@gmail.com. Thanks for listening.
