简介
by Joslyn Layne With this release, Bun-Ching Lam presents three narrative works with musical accompaniment. The first is the title piece, a story based on The Creation of the Gods, a mystical novel from the Ming Dynasty. Lam conducts a small ensemble that includes tenor Chen Shi-Zheng, while Ron Sopyla narrates the story of No Cha, the Child God. The second is a 1997 revision of Lam's 1982 composition, "Autumn Sound." In three parts, Wu Man plays pipa while tenor vocalist Shi-Zheng sings texts written by 12th century Chinese poetess Li Ching Chao. "The Great River Flows East" is the tenor singer's take on three lyrics by 11th century poet Su Shih, along with percussion by Danny Tunick.
