简介
This is a wonderful compilation of the later career of the diminuitive Frankie "Half-Pint" Jackson, whose Chicago "Hokum" style crossed genders years before Uncle Miltie ever wore a dress.Mr. Jackson was an associate of Hudson "Tampa Red" Whittaker, with whom he cut dozens of 78 rpm records. In the 30's and 40's, Tampa Red was *the* A&R man in Chicago for several New-York based 'race record' companies, and had great influence over which black Chicago artists were recorded. Jackson's high voice enabled him to sing songs written for women as well as men, and he sang many songs as a bad girl having a good time. This disc is exceptionally notable for its inclusion of the song "Gimme A Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer", as most people today do not know that a "pigfoot" was 'Viper' vernacular for a marijuanna cigarette.
