Review by Mathew Forss = 5 Out Of 5 Stars = "As a multi-instrumentalist from Hawaii, Phoenix Eyeris plays the guitar, piano, drums, and bass. However, his latest instrumental release, SYNCHRONEYES SOUNDS, contains an assortment of instruments, styles, and production... that echos a virtual world of electronica with the down-home feel of folk music. In short, the album is folktronica. Whatever it's called, Eyeris knows how to compose musically-rich and lavishly-textured music with an ear for the extraordinary. “KAHILI” opens with an organic sounding woodblock and a dripping harp like effect created from ukulele(?), and light percussion with guitar and ringing piano. The cascade of sounds and delicate playing results in a catchy instrumental song that carefully traverses the classical, folk, and ambient musical worlds. The piano plays a larger role near the end of the song, which gives the song a jazzy ambiance with gleaming resonance. “SWISS BANK ACCOUNT” begins with drippy, sparkling guitar notes. The trip-hop percussion and synth sounds merge into a heavier percussive groove with a downtempo/breaks feel. The rattling, synth sounds resemble the instrumental work of Air or Tangerine Dream. The landscape is colored briefly by washes of sitar, which resemble santoor or harp-like effects, along with some bluesy guitar riffs to round out the musical infusions. The ambulating beat and ticking sounds are interspersed with synth, ambient washes, and spacey electronics, which are a complete departure from the previous track. However, the instrumental nature of this song, and this entire collection of tracks for that matter, is top-notch." - Mathew Forss All Instruments/Production/Recording/Mixing by Eyeris.______Mastered by Dave Collins
