The album is targeted for a very specific audience, those that are fans of more minimal brand of electronic dance music and enjoy classic sounds of Detroit, Chicago and Berlin. There is a particular aesthetic on the album, the post vaporwave retro sound that pays homage to those recordings from late 80s and early 90s. One can often hear the album mimicking the sound of old tapes from the era. Still, while I borrow the aesthetics I don’t end up sounding like vaporwave, but purely techno, house or garage instead. While the album has definitely the sound of past, it borrows the skeletal structure from more recent EDM with its builds, breaks and drops. The structuring is stripped down to very basics making the music very danceable and DJ friendly. There are lots of influences on the album. The most obvious ones would lie in the early Detroit techno and Chicago house, and on such labels such as Smallville, Minus and Drumcode. There are influences from UK bass present too, and before mentioned vaporwave has inspired aesthetics and sound design. That brings us to the thesis of the album. That is that sometimes we have to revisit our past in order to move forward to the future. The album is probably not for everyone, but it is definitely for those that grew up during the rise of electronic dance music and to those interested in the beginnings of these genres. It can serve as a gateway to older music for the younger generations as well. I hope this will be a pleasant experience for the listener.
