Nick Drozdoff wrote the second tune for his experimental group, the Variable D Postulate Quartet and titled it "Glad To Be Somewhere." The title as well as the tune itself is a simple shot of joy for just being. It is funky in nature and feel with four separate hooks threaded together. The entire tune was designed around the new minimalist modern jazz/funk/fusion quartet of hollow body electric guitar, drums and vintage Wurlitzer electric piano all behind a trumpet soloist. This combination gives both a uniquely retro feel as well a very new sound at the same time. The personnel on this track are Peter Manheim on drums, Sam Hasting on guitar and Drozdoff's son, Colin Drozdoff on Wurlitzer electric piano. Nick Drozdoff plays a vintage 1971 Doc Severinsen Large Bore model Getzen Eterna trumpet. He is using a signature custom model Wedge mouthpiece. Drozdoff is an endorsing artist for both companies.
