During his musical odysseys Justin discovered a marvelous creation. The “Hang Drum!” When he heard this instrument he felt spiritually connected. It relaxed his mind with its rich resonance, producing polyphony so uplifting he felt unable to fully communicate his emotions to others. In his own words it made him imagine “the liveliness and sparkle of a Caribbean Carnival combined with the spiritualism of the Orient.” Having taught himself how to play the instrument Justin then set out to write some of his own music. The Hang Drum allowed Justin to develop his composition skills and to write melodic music to compliment the rhythmic drive of his earlier works. Justin’s compositions for this instrument have a serene and meditative quality. His performances would transfix audiences of all ages and leave them thrilled by the timbre of such an unusual instrument. When Justin performs on the Hang Drum, he becomes one with his instrument. His performances are a wonder to behold and his playing mesmerizes his audiences.
