This eccentric collection of guitar music was composed in various hotels, while touring the planet. A throwback to 50's and 60's, ultra hip, space-age pop stylings, Kaplan doles out a smorgasbord of latin-tinged, surf inspired, single coil twang, sonically invoking glimpses of Hank Marvin, Martin Denny and Santo & Johnny, as well as modern masters Bill Frisell, Mark Ribot and Ry Cooder. Dave DeWitt's supple organ grooves, and the exotic latin percussion of Jim Ed Cobbs, bring Kaplan's idiosyncratic melodies to life. Bill Barner makes stellar appearances on tenor sax and clarinets and Louie Tsamous contributes punchy rumba snare and percussion.
