South African born producer Eddieboi joins Kiko Navarro's Afroterraneo imprint, with 4 track EP 'Heliosgatan 38'. Formerly part of London radio and club collective '4 To The Floor' and now residing in Berlin, Eddieboi released his debut album in 2017 on highly respected imprint afro-house imprint MoBlack. 'Heliosgatan 38' is a highly original and unique EP, offering up quirky, wrong-footing sonic textures alongside compelling percussion grooves. Prevalent use of sampled speech fragments and everyday noises hint at the conceptual ambition of musique concrete, while the EP's hypnotic rhythms stay deeply rooted in African folklore. 'Swedish Woman From Lesotho' offers up a compact, shuffling, syncopated arrangement which playfully produces a visceral sense of tension. '700 African Vikings' takes the more familiar form of a looping, spiritual deep afro-house workout, boldly exploring the edges of a vast sonic plane. 'Unlimited You' returns to a more compact, intimate feel whilst introducing a powerful vocal, reminiscent of UK soul don Omar. Finally, the words of 'Michael Amaning' lay out all the beauty and power of blackness over potent, smokey atmospherics and masterful percussive flourishes.
