FakeAno celebrates African identity from a youthful perspective in part 2 of his 2022 EP titled African Boy 2. The project embodies all the tenets that make Africa special to Africans across the continent and the world. The project spans eight diverse songs written in FakeAno’s native language of Shona. The choice of features further pushes the cross-continental unity agenda by working with incredible young African talent from all over. The EP features super producers and artists such as the multi-platinum producer for Cassper Nyovest - Move For Me “Jillz”, Janta The Heatmaker, and Henwood whomst are Malawi’s biggest award-winning producers on standout songs such as Napenga and What She Like, and the Grammy-nominated producer for Beyonce’s - Find Your Way Back “Evoke” who hails from FakeAno’s own mother country of Zimbabwe. The soundtrack of this body of work provides the perfect way to celebrate a momentous time in African music and it is a great expansion to the success of part 1 which was released in 2021 and achieved top 5 charting positions on digital platforms. It is filled to the brim with African pride, spirituality, identity, and youthful exuberance. It is a statement that succinctly defines what it means to be African in 2022 from a millennial perspective and it serves to set a precedent on how future generations can too take pride in their own identity and celebrate it on their own terms going forward. “I made African Boy in a moment of feeling true to myself, my roots, and what I believe it means to be African without the stereotypes especially when it comes to music” It is an exploration of a narrative as defined by a young African person living it in real-time. It is expressive and powerful in its messaging. It is an inkling into the kind of future the ancestors of this generation had long imagined and aspired towards.
