简介
Returning 2010 OIF Veteran, Cheryl McAuley, has a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from West Chester Univ. PA. (1975), a Master of Public Administration from George Mason Univ. VA. (1996), and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, PA. (2005). The album began with two new pieces of music commissioned when she was a student at Carlisle Barracks. She collaborated with Dr. Gordon Bowie when he composed the new march “Carlisle.” It was dedicated to the U.S. Army War College. The hymn, “The Army of Leaders” was co-written; Cheryl wrote the poem and Gordon set the verses to music. Other musicians were invited to participate in the development of the CD, and the final result is quite unique and exciting! It traces the history of the second oldest Army post, Carlisle Barracks, PA through music and photos in commemoration of its 250th anniversary! When she was in Iraq, she noticed how many soldiers listened to their music digitally. She decided in Baghdad that she wanted to have her “labor of love” CD released digitally when she got home, so more people could enjoy it. Here are some of the testimonials from those who have heard it all over America: The CD captures the America of another period. It's like being in a time warp. Makes you want to time-travel back there. - Charlie, “Accuracy in Media” (CA) It looks like a wonderful project. - Deborah, WETA 90.9 FM (Wash, D.C.) I listened to the CD and it is super. The "Battle Hymn" is especially nice, but ALL are really good. You can't keep your feet still. They make you want to march. The whole CD was exceptionally done. Great job! - Suzanne (AL) Our listeners have responded very favorably to the stirring music on this production. …We'll continue to air the CD throughout this coming year. - Judy, Producer, Morning Blend, WLRH FM (AL) This is a tremendous recording! I would definitely recommend this compilation of uplifting marches and patriotic music to anyone with ties to the Barracks or with a desire for professionally-performed military songs. With its creative blend of old and new music, the recording is entertaining yet inspiring. The stirring lyrics and majestic tunes of these grand songs are a reminder of the greatness of Carlisle Barracks, the USAWC, and our armed forces in general. - Amanda (PA) What a joy and inspiration to hear the beautiful recordings on the Carlisle Barracks CD. I have passed it on to my son who is 14 and enjoys history and military music. We all applaud your efforts on making this a fine CD. - Greg (MD) I visited a friend and…The most wonderful music was coming from the upstairs. I went up … and learned that the CD was the one you put together. It is wonderful and I would like to buy one. It made me feel so good to hear that wonderful music…- Alice (AL) I loved this CD. It contains a great selection of uplifting tracks, professionally executed. You don't have to be a graduate of the Army War College to find this a great addition to the family music library! - Shawn (VA) I gave Al and our friend Gary (my son-in-law's father) your CD for Christmas. They loved it! - Pam (TX) If you love military history and want to hear music that represents 250 years of history in Pennsylvania (30 minutes north of Gettysburg!) this album is for you. There are some familiar arrangements, and there are brand new tracks that were recorded for this project. You will also help support the Army Heritage Education Center in Carlisle Barracks, PA because Wish You Were Here, Inc.® contributes a portion of album proceeds directly to them.
