As a band, The Steve Taylor Three wasn't necessarily born. Rather, it can be said that it evolved into the performing and songwriting trio it is today. The front man and namesake of the group, Steve Taylor, began playing solo acoustic shows almost a decade ago in pubs and watering holes all over southeast Michigan as an aside to his already prolific music career. In 2009 - maybe for support or possibly due to musical boredom - two of Steve’s long-time friends, Bryan Frink and Carey Weaver, began showing up unannounced to his solo gigs and setting up behind him – during the show. Old friends became a new band. What began as a musical dalliance soon turned into a musical adventure. What they became was the Steve Taylor Three. Forged from a combined 90 years of musical experience and more than two decades of friendship, the result was a trio that tips its hat to the artists and performers that each grew up listening to, and later performing with. Now, in the summer of 2014, the Steve Taylor Three will release their debut CD, Check Your Baggage. The three musicians have woven emotion, reflections of life and family, and vast experience into a collection of songs that has been described as another “great American road album”. In the tradition of the American singer/songwriter, the album mixes the DNA of rock, classic country, blue grass, and blues. Steve Taylor (Vocals, Guitar), Bryan Frink (Bass, Vocals), and Carey Weaver (Drums, Vocals) each pull from their extensive experience of recording, writing, touring, and performing with some of the most talented artists, bands, and musicians around. They’ve performed on stages from California to Afghanistan; from the Palace of Auburn Hills and Pine Knob Music Theatre (DTE) to the back corners of quaint, northern Michigan taverns – all have welcomed a member of ST3 to their stages a time or two. Steve Taylor, in addition to being the lead singer and guitar player for the Steve Taylor Three, is currently the touring bass player for Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. He’s performed extensively with Karen Newman, Jody Raffoul, Steve Acho, Tim Diaz, and as a member of the popular Detroit band, Vudu Hippies. Steve’s also a studio musician, producer, and composer of motion picture scores. Bryan Frink just came off a stint of playing bass for the legendary national recording act The Verve Pipe (The Freshman). He’s also played extensively on the Detroit music scene playing bass for Brian Vander Ark, Kicking Water, and as a guitar player for the Vudu Hippies. He’s also been a studio musician and a sound engineer. Carey Weaver currently tours with singer/songwriter/ national re-cording artist, JTX, supporting several hit songs including “Party Like a Rock Star” and “Love in America”. With JTX, Carey has toured the country and performed on a USO Tour of Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He has also been a regular on the Detroit music scene playing with recording artist Brian Vander Ark and groups such as Blush and Kicking Water.
