简介

CHECK THE DEMO SHAWTY With one member from Chicago and one from Atlanta, Proton's lyrical content is a delivered with a blend of Midwestern drawl and Southern slang. Spitting rapid fire word-play over bounce-friendly, bass heavy tracks, Proton exceeds the expectations associated with positive music. With songs topics that include global travel aspirations, shady business dealings, loss, and love, "Vintage Vegetarians" is a must have for any hip-hop fan's collection. NOTABLES: "Electrifying Electronica Et. Al." Proton uses sociological and political messages to craft songs with lyrics about Mumia Abu Jamal and police brutality, Brazillian, African, and Middle Eastern musical influences are heard in their songs, which they performed most recently at Pal's Lounge on Auburn Ave. Trina Trice The Scene, ATL "Something in the Water" There is something about the lyricism and gothic lushness of the South that comes through in Proton's descriptions of daily struggles and worldly observations. The MCs channel their impressive cadence and flow into personal political dramas that include drug abuse, gang violence, dissing women, and the grotesque materialism and vanity of "jiggy" style. Tom Constabile Platform.net THE BIO: If they didn't rhyme about uninvited guests and international travel over fast paced beats, Proton would probably have a record deal by now. Not concerned with rocking over classic breaks lined with old school samples, they prefer to embed bounce friendly tracks with noteworthy lyrical content. Based in Atlanta, GA, group members Ebo and Firefly have reinvented the popular connotations of positive music with a unique sound. Being labeled everything from alternative hip hop/electronic to spoken word/drum n' bass fusion has achieved them a category all their own. Seeking distribution for "Vintage Vegetarians," the sophomore follow-up to their self-titled debut is currently Proton's main focus. An album heavily influenced by cultural community affairs and the desire to separate themselves from other underground artists, subject matters range from the origins of their fashion sense and eating habits, to enjoying a smoky, drink-less night at the club. Planning the early spring launch of a web-site in order to expand their prospective audience, the duo will reach beyond their home base with a regional promotional tour. Their group name remains in singular form to symbolize a collective one-ness, but there are two members and several affiliates. Ebo is an Atlanta born lyricist whose comical consciousness is a breath of fresh air. His blunt, thought provoking lyrics are known to raise a few conservative eyebrows when touching on political issues or narrating stories of ghetto youth. Co-founding a group with some former schoolmates in '94, he has been doing live performances ever since. Firefly started rhyming in freestyle battles against various crews in his native Chicago. Arriving in Atlanta in '95 to attend college, he soon joined the already active Proton upstarts. From a childhood immersed in piano lessons and computer applications, Firefly now handles the bulk of the group's production and engineers songs in their 'Throne Room Studios.' With forward and abstract approaches working together, differences in cadence and rhyme style provide an overall balance to Proton's music. The chemistry of these two twenty-something musicians was born not only out of a love for their craft, but also the bloodline they share as first cousins. During their Atlanta stint, Proton opened for established artists such as Kool Keith, Digital Underground, Del and Casual of Hieroglyphics, The GZA, and Backbone. Additionally, the audience of an early 2000 event was warmed up by the acoustic sounds of India.Arie. Using props, wardrobe, and special effects to enhance their performances, Proton is best known for high-energy, interactive stage shows that have found the likes of everyone from Andre 3000, to Lenny Kravitz and Dallas Austin in attendance.
