简介
In "Da" Streets was inspired by true life events that forever changed Atlanta native, David Wells and North Carolina native, Ricky Johnson "Rico Jr" lives forever. The two were broadcasted on Fox 5 Atlanta News twice for two tragic events the occurred back to back beginning in August of 2016, when their car was stolen from the Motel 6 in Norcross, Ga. After the story aired, multiple viewers called the hotel to donate weeks of reservations and surprisingly a politician from Holly Springs, Ga. donated a Minivan. Sadly, the Motel 6 was stealing the donations and editing the reservations. When confronted the Motel 6 asked the two to leave on David's birthday on August 31, 2016. They reached out several times to corporate Motel 6 with no solutions. The only option provided was to switch to a corporate Motel 6 to be compensated for all the losses. The two relocated to the Motel 6 on Lawrenceville Highway, off Interstate 285 in Tucker, Georgia. Twenty-six days later the two would find themselves in a situation where the outcome could have been fatal. On September 26, 2016, the two went to Racetrac and returned to the Motel 6 and parked in their normal parking space. Immediately, the two noticed a person in a dark heavy coat, waving a gun at the Minivan, while climbing into a Ford Expedition that was directly behind the Minivan. The Expedition started rolling back and slammed into the back of the Minivan. The gunman hopped out and started emptying his gun into the Minivan. At least 7 shots hit the Minivan, one grazing Rico in the back. At the same time, David jumped into the back of the Minivan with no rear seats and Rico threw the van in reverse and floored it. The Minivan pushed the expedition out of the way while the gunman was still firing shots. The Minivan went into a "S" shape and slammed into two parked cars. The worst part about it was that the Motel 6 Tucker location was committing credit card transaction fraud against the two bank accounts. Motel 6 stole the most money the day of the shooting, including the days leading up to the shooting and afterwards. Again the Motel 6 never did anything for the two life-changing events that occurred, they only made them worst, which helped inspired the two to produce, write and arrange the entire song, "In The Streets." Despite all the negative accounts the two still say, "Keep smiling and hold tight to faith, because it will lead you to the light at the end of the tunnel."
