NOTES ON THE MUSIC: “Straight Edge” was written by Rob back in the '90s and brought back to life with lyrical changes and a different feel to the song. “Ammon’s Horn” was a request from Rob to Jeff to come up with a prelude to “Memory Lane” which to his surprise only took a week to write. “Memory Lane” was a Jeff creation from the past and resurrected with some new lyrics from Rob who kept some of the original lyrics (thanks Gerald). We had reservations about re-doing “Steppin’ Stone” because our arrangement had so many tempo changes, but we did it anyway, balls to the wall, bear bones, no apologies. “Alexithymia” was a progressive Jeff composition. The song was a keeper when Rob laid down some great synth ideas along with Jeff’s added whole tone scale on the chorus. This song really showcases what an excellent drummer Rob is. Ok, it’s a drum solo surrounded by other instruments. “Freak Show Charade” is completely new and was built from the ground up in the studio. For us it was a whole new way of writing and recording. Although it had its challenges it was a blast to make. “Reservation For Two” was the last song written for the project that seemed to come together way too easily. With the added keyboard and rhythmic structures, we feel these last three songs are a gateway to the next project as far as the process of writing and recording of new material is concerned.
