XYM is a conscious rapper, originally from Halifax, West Yorkshire. He’s an old school hip-hop artist and true lyricist. He’s released six albums independently and has had radio play on various stations including BBC 1xtra and Suspect Package’s radio show. He has also been a special guest artist for Itch FM, Resonance FM and for I Am Hip Hop’s radio show. He’s gigged extensively, mostly in London, and has just returned from his second gig abroad in Hamburg. He’s also an actor and script writer. He won a sitcom writing competition with the BBC and is developing a new sitcom about hip-hop. He’s also written a play about hip-hop called Up North, which got shortlisted for the Alfred Fagon Award and he has just received a grant from the Arts Council for it.
