Big Spring is an album of songs that deal primarily with contemporary issues, such as the degradation of the natural environment, and the erosion of our personal freedoms. The songs are performed in an upbeat, country style, with a mix of bass guitar, fiddle, saxophone, drums, as well as acoustic guitars, backing one, two, or three vocalists. Some of the songs are tongue-in-cheek, taking a lighthearted approach to the topic, while other songs are much more earnest, reflecting the gravity of problems that threaten our very existence.
