Ben Richter is a composer, accordionist, and multi-instrumentalist. With backgrounds in avant-garde classical, rock, and folk scenes, he draws from experimental improvisation, traditional klezmer practices, and contemporary chamber music to create atmospheric work that explores a timeless, mystical space at the intersection of memory and imagination. He directs New York's Ghost Ensemble and has frequently collaborated with SEM Ensemble, Ostravska Banda, Pauline Oliveros, and The Dresden Dolls. Critics have described his music as "hypnotic and absorbing" and "a look, perhaps, into a different dimension."
