Moonchild formed as a band in November, 2008. It was inspired by the band members shared love of classic rock and roll and desire to write and perform original material. The result is a band that can “blow the roof off” playing classic blues-rock covers, or equally hard rocking original tunes. Their first CD provides solid evidence of the bands songwriting and performance chops. Video clips of their live shows give ample proof of their ability to do inspired versions of classic rock gems. Moonchild’s versatility means that they can perform equally well in both bar band/dance hall settings and in clubs catering to original music. Their polished musicianship makes them a good choice for larger halls and festival settings, too. Individually, Moonchild’s personnel bring a history of solid performance chops to the table… Julie Medeiros, the band’s lead vocalist and principle songwriter, has performed extensively in a variety of genres. She’s fronted blues and R&B combos as well as classic rock and originals bands. A vocalist with raw power and an engaging personal style, she’s as dynamic a female front as any you’ve ever seen. Tim Baker, Moonchild’s lead guitarist and singer/songwriter extraordinaire brings a wealth of talent and great guitar chops to the band’s table. His dynamic energy and infectious charm are a key component in the band’s formula for success. His ability to tastefully interact with Julie’s vocals calls to mind great guitar/singer collaborations of the past (Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart, Townsend/Daltry and Page/Plant come to mind). Jim Bush provides a steady and inspired backbeat to the bands sound. A veteran drummer with a solid touring history, Jim is a committed member of the lineup whose talent and dedication is an indispensable part of the Moonchild sound. Marius Pelsma on bass is the newest addition to the band’s lineup. He, too, has a solid professional history on stage and in the studio. He was attracted to the band by their commonly shared love of classic rock and roots music and is fast becoming a key part of the band’s wonderful chemistry.
