This song is a tribute to the amazing Nelson Mandela and the miracle he engineered by peacefully transforming South Africa from a minority-ruled White government to a majority-ruled Black government. The composer and lyricist, Bertha Egnos (1912-2003) and Gail Lakier (1942-2010), were the mother-daughter team who wrote the internationally acclaimed South African stage musical "Ipi Ntombi". The producer/sound engineer Ian Osrin, is the owner of Digital Cupboard Studios in Johannesburg. Ian has worked with many prestigious names in music including Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba. Andre Abrahamse, the co-producer/musical arranger, is considered one of the country's best composers, producers, arrangers, bassists and programmers. The vocal arrangement is by Andy Chabeli and Andre Abrahamse. Andy played the lead role in Ipi Ntombi, initially staged in Johannesburg in March 1974. The lead singers are Andy Chabeli and Zamo Mbutho. Backing singers included Stella Khumalo, Malebo Mothema and Nqobile Mabanjwa. The musicians included Godfrey Mgcina (drums and percussion), Kelly Petlane (pennywhistle), Andre Abrahamse (bass and keyboard), Joel Klein (guitar).
