Music beckoned from an early age. As a young girl growing up in New York City, Ashana began singing sacred music in churches. In the mid-80’s she was drawn to yoga, chanting and kirtan. Classically trained, she spent many years exploring a wide variety of musical genres including jazz, pop, gospel, musical theater as well as composing and teaching children’s music. From ancient to contemporary she immersed herself, graduating with a degree in vocal studies from the Mannes College of Music in New York City. For the last fifteen years, she has been on a deeply personal journey, studying and exploring sound healing and vocal toning. During this period she discovered and began playing quartz crystal singing bowls, instruments that are often used in contemplative practices to support healing, balance and well-being.
