DAVID HARDIMAN’S (MUSIC AROUND THE WORLD) This is a Compilation CD with my great memorable performances, recordings and events during the course of several years dating from 1985-2013 of my career. When I was the President of the BAY AREA JAZZ SOCIETY, there was a fundraiser in which (^1985) 1. “SOFTLY AS IN A MORNING SUNRISE” was recorded live at the GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL, SF, CA. The stellar great famous pianist recording artist George Cables (Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Art Pepper, Joe Henderson, etc.) bassist Jeff Carney, soprano sax Don W**d, drummer Bud Spangler and I on trumpet played a really great memorable performance. Nina Causey, great talented beautiful vocalist from Chicago, has worked with my Combos and SF All Star Big Band and performing in Las Vegas, Japan, etc. In addition to modeling, acting and teaching has had a successful career singing and recording so that I recorded with her (~2001) 2. “LOVE FOR SALE” from her CD “TAKE ME TO PARADISE” and (+2011) 6. “ALL OF YOU” from CD “HOLDING ON FOREVER”. Joel Aviles is a great multi-talented bilingual singer and percussionist, who was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Playing with several Salsa Bands, Ritmo Setenta Quatro, Pepe y sus Orquesta de Peru, etc. and backing up famous personalities Puppy Santiago and Vernis Hernandez, etc. has led me to recording with Joel & his Band La Diferencia (#2001) 7. “I’M IN LOVE” (ENAMORADO) AND (#2001) 9. “ME VA A EXTRANAR (YOU’RE GONNA MISS ME). When my boyhood friend Melvin Rhyne, from Indpls, Ind., was the guest artist at City College of San Francisco in Dec, 2012, we went into the studio the next day to record (>2012) 3. BOM BOM BOM BRAZIL, (>2012) 4. NO. 12 DUNBAR, (>2012) 8. TWO BLEW. Along with the stellar famous recording artist and members of the SF ALL STAR BIG BAND, drummer Dr. Willis Kirk (Charlie Parker, Wes Montgomery, etc.), guitarist Calvin Keys (Ahmad Jamal, Ray Charles, etc.) Saxophonist Leon Williams (Gil Scott-Heron, Kenny Burrell), this was a once in a lifetime great experience. This may have been Hammond B-3 organist Melvin Rhyne’s (Wes and Buddy Montgomery, BB King, Roland Kirk, etc.) last recording before he passed away March, 2013. My son, talented trumpeter, vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, educator D. Anthony (David Anthony Hardiman), (Tony, Tonie, Barkay’s, Dazz Band, etc) recording “I AM ME” and “I FEEL GOOD TODAY”. I recorded (<2013) 5. JAMAICA MAN, on his new CD “GATEWAY TO THE WORLD D. ANTHONY”. DAVID HARDIMAN, Trumpet and Flugelhorn, Pianist, Professor of Theory, Harmony, Jazz Music History, Adjudicator, the band’s leader, is known as a Composer/Arranger. He comes from Indianapolis, where his early jazz training was developed with other home town associates Dr. Willis Kirk, Dr. David Baker, Freddie Hubbard, Dr. Larry Ridley, and James Spaulding. David is the leader of “The San Francisco All Star Big Band” and Director of “The African American Jazz Caucus Dance Band” (IAJE), “Saint Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band”, and has PLAYED IN BANDS ACCOMPANYING: JACKIE WILSON, "THE DELLS", "THE HONEY CONES", DONNY HATHAWAY, RED PRYSOCK, JOHNNIE RAY, GLADYS KNIGHT AND THE PIPS, NANCY WILSON, TONY BENNETT, PEGGY LEE, JIMMY WITHERSPOON, MUSICAL THEATER SHOWS:” SOPHISTICATED LADIES”, etc. David received a B.M. degree in Music Education from Indiana University and a M.M. from Butler University, Indianapolis, Ind. David has been an Educator in the Indianapolis Public Schools for 11 years before moving to Berkeley, CA, and teaching in the Berkeley Public Schools for 3 years.
