This is my second CD. It is a bit more sequenced and a bit "out there" to some extent. I added a lot more effects and processing. As the technology gets better, experimentation is easier. I am able to be more creative and not so bogged down with all the technical stuff. The theme of "Planet X" is wide range. I wrote and recorded most of the material around the time of the "911" tragedy. It was haunting to me that the title track, "Planet X" was written one week before "911" and based on the crazy state of our country. The theme and feel of the song is mystic with a Mid Eastern sound placed here and there. There are references to terrorism, bombs and the Middle East. It felt like it came out of nowhere as did the tragedy! I was more concerned about issues at that time and taking a hard look at a lot of things. It was recorded around the time I was planning to move to LA to pursue publishing and a solo career. I was leaving a lot behind including; old lovers and friends so there's a lot of that in there. Track 6, "Dirty Little Secret" is about a molested child. Track 7, "There's A Man Smiling Down From The Moon" is a comedic twist on the world today. Track 3, "It Stung," references a breakup and track 2, "I Don't Think I Can Take It," speaks for itself... There's a bit of charm and lightheartedness also with track 5, "I Believe In Love," along with my fantasies, track 10, "How far Away Is Your Paradise." LA was clearly on my mind when I wrote "Dreams!" I think I found a nice blend with this production. All in all it was creative and fun to do. There are some nice melodies and meaningful lyrics I hope you enjoy and can relate to...Robert Paul
