简介
For what it's worth, I'm finally releasing my unasked for, bastard of a CD. Being a sideman for so many years I doubt that many people knew I was a song writer, guitarist, bass player, and can play just enough keyboards to get me by. I didn't do this album by myself by any means. Why would I when I know some of the most talented musicians in the entire world. Some of these people played a lot on these songs and some played a little. I want to thank them all for each note. George Ozier, Tommy Dunn, Gwen Dunn, Heather Hunt, Brandi Yagow, Chris Schaff, Bobby Reynolds, Ike Edwards, Jake Edwards, Pat Lee, Rod Plunkett, Jon Clarkson, Jim McBride, Garrie Carlen, Heather Yocum James, Dave Baldwin, Doug Evans and Merv Schrock. If I've forgotten any one my apologies. The album was produced by myself and George Ozier. Mixed and Mastered by Jon Clarkson. I took influences from everyone Ive ever played with. But I'm dedicating the album to the three most influentual musicians who have shaped me into the musician I am. Greg Ozier, bassist extrodiaire and mentor. You showed me some killer music as a teenager and put the first guitar in my hands, Garrie Carlen, You let a bunch of young punks sit through your rehearsals and patiently answered a million questions about music and playing guitar. George Ozier, One of my very best friends, great songwriter, amazing singer, hard headed, a pain in the a**, great guy, killer musician. This one is for the "3G's" I hope i didn't disapoint. The album was written during a tramatic period in my life. I conciously decided not to make a downer of an album. I focused on the good things in my life and it wasn't just musically theriputic but playing with old friends and making unexpected new ones helped to make the time exciting and fun. I hope it comes through on record. I wrote about love that came and went, never happened or the next one to came along. "Howl at the Moon", "Come on Katie" "Lovin in My Baby's Eyes" and "Lola" were specifically written for certain people. Check out the harp solo on "Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes" that was recorded by three year old Gwen "Blister" Dunn. "One Thing" and "Fireball Eight" are straight from my rockabilly roots, "Pimp" was just silly and only includeded because of public demand. "Riot" is a song I recorded years ago as a member of the Chesters. "Light it up" well... I finally got everyone I could to play and sing on "Never Gonna Give You Up". This album is the exact opposite of how I would produce any other group. It's unfocused, too many different styles, and filled with ideas that make me smile and I hope you do too. Enjoy it for what it is. A damn good album, if I do say so myself. Enjoy --Sammy
