简介
Zero Crossing is dedicated to the performance of new music for percussion and electronics. For the members - Peter Ivan Edwards (USA/Singapore) and Max Riefer (Germany) - exploring the use of the computer as an instrument and musical contributor is an important aspect of their collaboration. When performing, the duo aims for the spontaneity and intimacy of chamber music, even though one partner is always virtual. The group’s repertoire consists largely of co-composed works. Their music stems from experimental musical traditions and frequently involves improvisation within planned musical structures. Their works aim to discover new sounds and new dimensions of familiar sounds that are possible through the combination of percussion and electronics. Their debut performance took place at the 40th anniversary festival of the Freiburg Percussion Ensemble in Freiburg, Germany, where they premiered their Schwarze Sehnsucht. In June 2013, they performed their 40-minute work, Oberkirchen, at Mia-Münster-Haus in Sankt Wendel, Germany. In September 2014, they performed other new works on the Soundbites series at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore and the Spectra Electronic Music Festival in Kuala Lumpur.
