简介
One of the most underrated underground emcees, Smoke Brown, is fast approaching his calling. As the 30 year - old rapper originally from Chicago would say, “My life is in my music, every line”. After writing his first rhymes at 11, Common, Nas, Wu-Tang, and Redman had become the new focus, quickly forcing any other dreams out of the window After moving to Atlanta in 2002 to pursue his music career, Smoke enrolled at Clark Atlanta University. There, he released his first solo project, “Strugglin”. The demo included tracks produced by Chicago DJ’s, Juan “Jumega” Garcia, and Omega Red. It also received attention from various labels such as Rap-A-Lot, and Chicago radio station Power 92. While in living in Atlanta, Smoke continued to network and soon began performing at local venues, The Apache Café and The Black Lion. Returning home to Chicago also was beneficial for Smoke, co-founding the hip hop group Evo Soul (Evolutionary Souljahs) with fellow emcees Bam Genesis, Shalood, Frankie B. Eazi, and Omega Red. In August of 2007 the group released its only project, “The Experience”, (available soon on cdbaby). Now back in Chicago, Smoke is currently re-releasing his albums, “Wakin Up” and “The Session”. Produced once again by Jumega and Omega Red, the “Wakin Up” is basically a snapshot of Smoke’s early adult life. A mixture of thought provoking lyrics, personal matters, and hypnotic melodies create an uncommon album by today’s standards. “The Session” is more of a celebration, an announcement to the world that Evo Soul has arrived.
