简介

Michael Crawford aka. Crawdad, was born in Ventura County California. At a young age he quickly developed an ear for hip hop and frequently listened to artists such as "Andre Nickatina", "Atmosphere', "Immortal Technique", “Brother Ali”, and the list goes on. His love for the hip-hop culture soon developed and he was able to combine his natural writing talent with his gift of syncopated rhythms, thus, forming the indiscernible sound that is truly Crawdad. At the age of seventeen he had dropped out of high school after attending seven different schools. Eventually he started to realize that music was the only thing that would be there no matter what. After the death of a close friend (Cody James Murphy), Michael made a few major life-changing decisions, and began focusing on his music more than ever before. After recording a homemade demo, he began his grind. Handing out CD's to lawyers, teachers, janitors, graff artists and virtually anyone he came into contact with. Jim Claytor of DigitalLiveWire was one of the first to receive a copy of this demo through a mutual friend rock guitarist (Warfare). After hearing it, Jim told us, "I was scared for my life when I heard that damn demo”. However, there was something very intriguing about it and I figured “what the hell”, because there was a hint of unearthed talent that was dying to get out of that kid. Eventually Jim and Michael hooked up and did their first track together "Lost Souls" (unreleased). After that the two vibed so well together they agreed to take it to the next level…...a performance. In early December 2008 Crawdad debuted his new music, sound, and look, at a fashion show for NV Boarding Co (skateboarding) In Thousand Oaks, California. We recovered a post interview with Jim (dj Blackfoot) where he was quoted saying, "after only a few short weeks of working together I cant believe the massive improvement from this kid.” Following that performance they agreed to do another show in late January of 09 where Crawdad opened up for MURS, from the group Living Legends. This show was definitely one for the books where Crawdads stellar performance took everyone by surprise, and wowed the crowd of mostly high school kids and even actor Bill Paxton (Twister, Aliens). Following the show with MURS, Crawdad and Jim agreed to release his first EP in 2010 "The Underground Perspective." After being released, Crawdad met up with Mark Dowis (drummer) in September 2010, and began putting together his next project, a live band. As of March 2012, they have put together a complete four piece band (Mark Dowis - Drums, Jason Bond - Guitar, Ernesto Gallardo - Bass Guitar, Rich Habib-Keys). The band has performed at numerous Venues all over the United States. Crawdad has shared the stage with such greats as MURS, Andre Nickatina, Shifty Shellshock, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Blueprint, Psyco Les (The Beatnuts), Apathy, King Magnetic, The Grouch & Eligh, Scarub, Eligh & Amp Live, LuckIAm, Masta Ace, Warfare, Kimberly Rose and many more. In 2011 Crawdad released “The Art of Making Flowetry” an EP compiled of his favorite tracks from the year prior. Following the success of T.A.O.M.F. Crawdad hooked up with San Francisco rapper Shizz Dirt to form the group Character Assassins. Steadily building momentum, Character Assassins released their debut album “Sinnocent.” Crawdad has proven himself to be an incomparable force behind the microphone and although his career has just begun it is obvious he has a bright future ahead of him.
