A positive voice for the new Nashville, Trae Edwards is a man who's paid his dues as a session singer and performed with the likes of some of Country and Gospel music's biggest names. Now, he's making news not only for his music, but for his dedication in helping those battling cancer through his Hope Project. In December 2013, Trae premiered his new single, "When The Sun Comes Out Again," on The David Bowers Awards (Internet radio show). The song was co-written by Suzanne Jennings and Michael Sykes. Jennings and Sykes have received multiple individual Grammy nominations and Dove Awards. Background vocals were performed by Larry Stewart and Paul Gregg of the band Restless Heart. Launched as part of Trae's Hope Project, the music video for "When The Sun Comes Out Again" quickly shot up in YouTube views. Trae Edwards announced that 10 percent of the song's first 200,000 downloads on iTunes and CDBaby will benefit Carl West, who's battling a rare form of bone cancer. West and his three children are featured in the music video. Additional monies raised from Trae Edwards music sales will continue to be donated to cancer patients nationally for their daily needs, including home, food, medications and transportation costs. Trae's own family and many friends have been affected by the disease, and it's a cause close to his heart. The single release follows Trae's 2012 CD, "I Believed," a memorable mix of ballads, love songs, and get-down Country boogie. The project was praised by industry legends, including Joe Bonsall of The Oak Ridge Boys, who calls Trae Edwards "a name to watch." The project's title track received national radio airplay, as did "Killing Myself To Stay Alive," an ode to working men and women. In 2013, Trae opened for Country/Bluegrass great Ricky Skaggs in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Also in 2013, Trae was featured live on the Rick & Bubba syndicated radio show, Elvis Radio (Sirius XM), Grand Ole Opry Radio, and The Ken Coleman Show. Trae began singing at age 5 in his native Oxford, Alabama. He performed throughout his youth and, while still in his 20s, he won the Male Solo Competition in the Charlie Daniels Talent Round-Up. That led to years as a session singer. He also opened for or shared the stage with such Country greats as Naomi and Wynonna Judd, Trace Adkins, Joe Diffee, and Tracy Lawrence. Another career highlight was performing in several "Homecoming" videos produced by the Gaithers, a powerhouse in Christian music.
