简介

CD Length 79:52 (What a deal!) If you download digitally and want the 20 pages of liner notes, go to: http://www.pasty.net/~dowens/EthnicConnectionCD.html or Google: Ethnic Connection CD. For twenty years, The Ethnic Connection has been the same four people: David Owens, Nan Nelson, Ralph Katz, and Carol Palms (see the Raisin Pickers). All play multiple instruments and sing, so they could overdub extra instruments and lots of four-part (barbershop style) harmony. Starting with the wonderful “When you learn a song, you’ve got a friend for life”, but in 7/8, so it can be danced as a Macedonian lesnoto! An U šest (kolo); a fast Čačak; two tamburica-style kolos, Sarajevka (that actually slows down on the slow part!) and Rokoko (with singing); the fun dance Niška Banja, which goes through a variety of instrumentations, including Mariachi (!); Haro'a haktana with singing and at dance speed; several Yiddish songs; the klezmer tune that became a Benny Goodman hit; Beer Barrel Polka and Blue Skirt Waltz sung in their original Czech (and also in English); the French and Romanian waltzes that became Fascination and Anniversary Song; the famous (back then, but never recorded) NAMA Waltz Medley; and other unexpected delights like Rosie the Riveter (a cappella and all the words) and At the Hop (Boogie woogie piano and the original parts done by Danny and the Juniors)! And closing with the lovely Till We Meet Again, as a barbershop quartet.
