“Gorgeous and beguiling, her androgynous voice rises from a whisper to a roar while maintaining miraculous tone and pitch.” – Press Release for Time Travel, Androgyny and Cabaret – Oh My! Clara Engel: singer, performer, writer, artist. (b. 1982) Both fierce and delicate, Clara Engel’s music is reminiscent of an era in history when theatre, art, and music were an integral part of a bigger and more vital whole, an era that the 21st century is craving more than ever. Clara Engel has recorded and released six albums independently, and has collaborated with artists in London, Denmark, Brazil, New York, and Germany. Engel is currently working with several labels: A Silent Place (Italy), Corps Morts (Quebec City), Scotch Tapes (Ontario), and is developing a loyal global following, (author Jeremy Reed and fashion designer Stefan Orschel-Read are both Clara Engel fans). Clara will be touring the East Coast of the United States in spring of 2010, all tour dates will be posted on her Myspace. www.myspace.com/claraengel contact@claraengel.net Discography: Jump of Flame (2004) Clara Engel (2006) Cousin Mary EP (2006) Tender (Corps-Morts Records 2008, A Silent Place 2010) Secret Beasts (2009) The Bethlehem Tapes (Scotch Tapes 2010) Guest Appearances: Aidan Baker’s Liminoid at X Avant Festival 2008 (to be released on Alien 8) – voice and guitar Morgan Doctor’s album Other Life – melody, lyrics and vocals for opening track ‘There Were Horses.’ 2009.
