ROOM 1117, Jasper the Jeweler’s debut EP, is in essence a sincerely honest conversation about a relationship. NYE, the opening track, is a classic love song, narrating a light-hearted story of unexpected experiences and lessons, lived and learned in a relationship. Confidential is an ode to the aesthetic of love songs of the past, a heartfelt yearning for passion and commitment, stylistically honoring the pioneers of old school R&B. Photo, opens up about the fear of things to come. Epitomizing the age old saying of “be careful what you wish for”, the song is a reassurance of commitment, no matter what the future may hold. Talking to Angels creates a conceptual parallel, between her – and divinity (or a feeble attempt of imagining what divinity might actually be experienced as). Did I Thank You?, the closing track, is a poetically written acknowledgment of imperfection. The project was written and created whilst being unexpectedly stuck in a hotel room, away from home, for 8 months. These circumstances shaped the self-reflectional path to liberation, felt only when you say exactly what you truly feel.
