简介
This is a redesigned cover and reissue of the 7th Street Legends Vol 1 cd, with two new tracks added, "Victoria" and "Headlights On The Mother Road - Route 66". "Headlights..." was a quick multi track recorded in Raton, NM by George Tomsco with engineer Dan Slocum. The basic tracks of "Victoria" were recorded in Canada by Larry Kopra, with Ray LaBrosse (rhythm guitar); Ken Mehrer (bass); George Tomsco (composer and lead guitar), then completed at Drew Holders AMP studio in Amarillo, Texas, with Chris Segura on drums and Maggie Scales on viola. To refresh information, the term 7th Street Legends identifies the vast number of singers, musicians, writers, producers and people that either recorded or were 'behind the scenes' as catalytic influences on the musiclal contribution and function of the Norman Petty studio in Clovis, New Mexico, spanning from the mid to late 50's until 1969. Therefore we saw credence in using track #5 "Rockin' In The 50's" as the title song for the cd. As on the first 7th Street Legends release, the backup singers performing on "Everybody Should Have Lived in the 50's" and "Most All Of The Time", are Gary and Ramona Tollett who were the original backup singers on the Crickets monster hit "That'll Be The Day"; David Bigham and the late Robert Linville, backup singers on Buddy Holly & the Crickets "It's So Easy", "Think It Over", etc., and yes, even the real Peggy Sue...the one Buddy sang about, is helping on the vocal backups too ! The musicians vary among the Fireballs recordings, however only four members are of the 7th Street Legends: Chuck Tharp (guitar & vocals), Stan Lark (bass & vocals), George Tomsco (guitar & vocals), and Jimmy Gilmer (guitar & vocals). Other participating musicians and singers are: Ron Cardenas (keyboard), Dan Aguilar (drums), Dave Doyle (bass), Craig Packham (drums). On "Merry Christmas Mom & Dad" the 1998 4th & 5th grade Christmas choral classes of Kearny Elementary School, Raton, NM with accompanying vocal teachers Sherry Parrish and Trini Tolar. Contributing recording engineers (other than those named above) and studios used are: Mark Neill in San Diego, Ca., Johnny Mulhair in Clovis, NM., and Johnny Watson in Gardner, Co. And of course included let's not forget to mention this cd has the 1963 million seller hit version of "Sugar Shack" with Jimmy Gilmer vocal ! This project is dedicated to the late 7th Street Legends: Norman & Vi Petty, Norma Jean Berry, Jimmy Self, Robert Linville, Chuck Tharp, Doug Roberts, Jerry Fisher, and Bill Griggs.
