简介

In this, his first album, David has written all songs, played most instruments—piano, Hammond organ, bass, and Larrivee acoustic guitar. He has performed all vocals. On this album you will hear Nashville fiddle player, Charlie Austin, veteran of 250 Grande Ole Opry performances, drummer Haines "Cowboy" Joyce, and famed lap steel player, Ben Peeler. Postmodern Days is a different kind of album. It includes songs about losing love, losing faith, trying to find love, trying to find faith. Lyrics are not poetry, but the style here holds the listener at a similar gun point, forcing an attention to the words. There is a careful and experimental structuring to the songs. Some are merely fragments. Some are tracks that can stand as individual songs. Taken together, they attempt to crystallize experience and help us discover how we make sense of the world in which we live. In the opening dark invitational song,“Come On In”, the musical narrator defines what is it that helps us make sense of the world around us. But each subsequent song is about missed connections, failed relationships, severed communications. In the song ”Two Trains”, which draws on experiences in the life of Ernest Hemingway, we find that life has choices and we are incisively responsible for the consequences. On the “Coastal Highway” not even religion eases the pain. Finally the listener is quickly thrust into a chaotic “May Day” which initially is a cry for help but then transforms into a beautiful summer day through the simple saving act of being noticed by another. The album ends then with an elevated sense of hope, for a time when every song on the musical narrator’s play list will be a song about love. David lives in Virginia and is currently at work on another album. Artist website--http:www.davidarn.com
