简介
Forming a band is tough enough right? Finding four guys in your same dorm with the proper components to form a functioning band is even more uncommon. But that’s what happened for the guys in the Gonzaga University based band Sonus. After a summer of song writing between their freshman and sophomore years, the group launched its musical career. They take influence from various artists such as, Coldplay, U2, Green Day, Muse, Keane and The Strokes. Upon returning to Gonzaga in the fall of 2009 the band had one problem: finding a place to rehearse. After realizing the only way to rehearse was to sneak into the music room of a dorm none of the members lived in, the music began to flow. The group found itself blending very quickly and the team chemistry came together. It took only a short month for the band to land its first gig. More performances were to follow, each show finding itself getting slightly larger and larger. These venues include: The Empyrean, The BLVD (now called The Seaside), The Cretin Hop: Sinister House of Rock n Roll and Ionic Burrito. Who would have known the boys would end up headlining the Knitting Factory for locals night just 6 months after forming!? But that’s the way the ball rolled for these young ambitious college students. Things continued to progress as Sonus stole the show at their university’s annual music festival, Moddonnastock. Three weeks and a couple examinations later, the guys were in the studio recording their first EP that they named “Eyes of Four.” After another successful start of the new year a switch was made as Sonus’ old drummer stepped out and was filled by the high energy Andy Leon. The band continues to gig in Spokane, playing venues like the Cretin Hop, Ionic Burritos, and the Knitting Factory. In February the group was back in the studio recording their single Miles Away, which is now available on iTunes.
