简介
Volta marks Polymath's maiden release on new Glasgow based electronic music label 3rd Abstract Records. Only little over a year old, the Polymath project has gone from strength to strength, with young Scottish Highlands producer Martin Gowans picking up the pace and gaining momentum at every available opportunity. The EP opens with title track Volta. Chimes echo around the listeners head with meaningful intention, which gives the track a confident swagger showing Martins professional approach to producing. The purposeful drums and charmingly intimidating bass allow the atmosphere to build before cutting back to leave space for the perfectly synchronised synths. The track ends with the chimes from the beginning, this time forming a cooling off period before track 2. Banana Bass is another huge hitting track by Martin. The track seems to go through movements, creating a brilliantly arranged modern day masterpiece, the female vocals constantly trying to compete with the track which is packed full of memorable samples and rhythms. The second half of the EP does not hold back either, the pace and impact refusing to move aside. The percussive knocking in 9000 combines perfectly with the beautifully haunting piano loop to add to a great blend of peaks and troughs throughout the EP, which emphasises Polymath's live reputation. Golava ends the EP on a high note with yet more dance floor filling rhythms. Martin again shows his prowess with the excellently produced synths and bass, designed to keep any club goer dancing from start to finish of this release. This excellent EP is only a taste of things to come from the huge potential that is Polymath.
