简介

“We don’t want to depress people” – If Worlds Collide We need bands like If Worlds Collide. In these times of over-produced pop tarts, fake Colgate smiles, and corporate cloning, this tag-team partnership remains grounded and articulate whilst sounding colourfully commercial. They have also burrowed a new pigeonhole: emo-acoustic. Who’d have thunk it? Drums have been made redundant. Guitar solos have been binned. Bass? It would only get in the way. If Worlds Collide originate from a little suburb of Cape Town, in South Africa. A few years ago, Ludick and Vermeulen traded lyrics and licks in their high-school cloakrooms. But since the turn of the year, it’s been all go. Their myspace.com site has had more hits than a piñata resembling Dick Cheney, while their song Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye – the sound of a piano crashing down on someone’s heart - has received more well wishes than the Pope on Christmas Day. As Ludick says himself: “We wanted to create a sound as original as possible, there are so many bands that sound like a lot of the bigger bands. We have heard a lot of acoustic emo, but all of it is slow and and every thing's dying; we wanna capture that up tempo pop punk beats, versus, and choruses - but layer it with emotional octaves. So it's kinda fast and catchy, but still emo. If our music can mean something to you in whatever way, we'll be happy.” And it does. Now resident in London, the real magic of this band can be found in their down-to-earth, who-cares-but-us attitude. Few, very few bands are doing what they’re doing. As Bill Hicks used to say, this is FACT. Therefore, if worlds really should collide, you can bet your sweaty ten-pound note, Lenner Ludick and Jaco Vermeulen will be at the party rockin’ out with Mars and Venus – the coolest and most emotional of planets.
