The art of "Symphonic Pop" is something special, and both composers and conductors know: The most difficult music is the so-called "light music", because everything that comes along in a seemling easygoing way is hard work to achieve. Most Orchestras and Conductors of today have specialized in a certain fields of music and they rarely cross the borders. But there was a time when it was a "conditio sine qua non" for musicians and conductors to master every genre of music equally. A fact that certainly applied for all radio station related orchestras who had to master Beethoven today and Gershwin tomorrow. So here is a selection of some of the worlds greatest compositions in the genre of light symphonical music by composers like Eric Coatest, Leroy Anderson or Niels Wilhelm Gade played by the fabulous Berlin Radio Orchestra conducted by Horst Stein.
