Often described as a post-modern composer, Igor Korneitchouk's music is about the exploration of form itself, where form is content. His pieces derive from the Cuisinart slicing and dicing of culture and counter-culture swirling around us, creating something new by examining the old with fresh ears, bringing to mind seminal composers before him like Charles Ives, Frank Zappa and Edgard Varèse. We are proud to make available exclusively on a downloadable album, Orchestral Recapitulations, re-releases of Igor Korneitchouk's recordings from various orchestras around the world: Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Chamber Symphony, and Kiev Philharmonic with conductors Gerard Schwarz, Robert Ian Winstin and Vladimír Válek. Included are solo performances by violist Karen Dreyfus, saxophonist James Romeo, and baritone Alexander Krunev. The works on this album include an essay on the experience of jury duty along with various literary touchstones: a meditation on a short story by Flannery O'Connor, a symphonic paraphrase of a passage from the novel by W. Somerset Maugham "Of Human Bondage", and settings to 3 of the composer's own haiku with a poem by the ancient Greek lesbian Sappho.
