BE MY VALENTINE \ ITS YOUR TURN Twisted Soundboy is an upcoming artist that was first featured on Jungledons Recordings when he did a remix for DJ Biggs Sunrize last year. This was quickly followed by his collaboration with Biggs and Hyde on a track called Bun Up. Since then he has been working on his own label Re:Activ Audio. The focus of this label is to produce fresh sounding Jungle and Jump Up tracks that have a fundamental goal to cause a reaction in the listener by using deep rolling bass. This is not the only goal of this label the other being to mix styles of music to form interesting textures. This includes of jungle basslines that have an Acid Lead with very funky almost Jazz Breaks. Old school flavours with a modern twist. This can be seen in the labels first two releases RAA001 New Era RMX and Reactive Forms. Be My Valentine Tired of boy themed tracks Twisted Soundboy has written a piece of music that had a very feminine feel to it. It has been designed to play mid set and has a lady singing Be My Valentine. The intro is decorated with the sound of soft synths and pianos that play a filtered melody that support the vocals. Out of nowhere the drums filter up giving the production a strong support. Hidden in the track are vocals that seem to contrast the original soft message with the lyric feel the wrath of my madness. Throw in the cape fear snippet and there is definitely a twist to this single. If you are tired of monotonous sounding tracks that just play on and on with little change then this track will appeal to you. It continually changes keeping the listening audience and djs on their toes. The bass has a distorted sound of a lengthened 808, which change regularly along with the beat which uses a list of techniques that brings interest to the listener. Its Your Turn This track is a Jump Up track that has a very interesting intro. It begins with a woman crying backed up a solid breakbeat. Woven into the intro is a twisted horn that helps the track move forward. There is a subtle bass in the intro which builds to a drop. The vocal telling the women stop cry its your turn gives a real sinister theme to the track. The beat pattern used is hard to describe but stomps through the track and the bass seems to bounce along with it. The lead sound is not unpleasant and constantly changes every so often. Like all the tracks on the Re:Activ label there is a change around the centre 8 which begs you to listen further. This is set to be a dance floor favourite and will definitely get a positive reaction from the audience.
