"Pour se jouer 840 fois de suite ce motif, il sera bon de se preparer au prealable, et dans le plus grand silence, par des immobilites serieuses" —Erik Satie. Many words have been spent on this extravagant and mysterious piece. This music, Vexations (dated 1893-94), consists of a short theme, written in eccentric and impractical enharmonic notation, whose four presentations are alternatingly unaccompanied and played with chords above. it is useless to note that while this marathon is performed the feelings that come out of it are somewhat contrasting, between the relaxing and the distressing! The pianist Deljavan comes to the test with a sensible touch that is not betrayed by fatigue and consecutive time (14 h 30' around), and that even remains balanced as in no other performance of this macabre piece.
