ROYAL STREET ORCHESTRA, a band existing since 2009 with no changes in the line-up, is consisting out of nine musicians with highly diverse musical and demotic backgrounds: A Bosnian, a Serb; a Greek who loves playing the melodies of Turkey; classical musicians, rockers and jazzers ; educated musicians as well as self-taught ones and self-proclaimed non-musicians. Despite all those very different personal features, the Royal Street Orchestra acts as one, collectively strong voice, which is combining musical elements from the Eastern European tradition with distinctly Western club-infused sounds, without perishing in cliches. Since the release of their debut album "Visible at given temperature" in 2012, the band has seen lots of tv and radio coverage through some of the biggest German broadcasters, such as SAT 1, WDR 3, WDR 5, Funkhaus Europa, and has played countless club shows and festivals in Germany and abroad, among many others the prestigious Rudolstadt Festival, Pina 40 festival, Burg Herzberg Festival, World Music Festival Ektarinburg / Russia and Girovagando Festival / Italy... Royal Street Orchestra as well has been awarded with many different awards, such as - the 2016 "RUTH-Award / Deutscher Weltmusikpreis", highly commended by German TV - broadcaster ARD and the highly prestigious German world music festival Rudolstadt Festival - the first prize at "Creole NRW" world music competition in 2015 - the Jury´s special award at "Creole NRW" world music competition in 2013 The new and second Royal Street Orchestra album, "Live at Utopiastadt" is released in September of 2016 via the bands newly founded own label "Royal Street Records". As the name suggests, the band is presenting a live album, which was recorded at two secret events end of 2014 at the "Utopiastadt" in the band´s home town Wuppertal in Germany, presenting the essence of the band´s musical oeuvre and their live show in such a close and realistic way, that you might think the band was standing in your living room and was playing just for you... "Live at Utopiastadt" as well contains a world premiere: A collaboration with Bosnian Sevdah singer Bozo Vreco, the current shooting star of Bosnian Sevdah music, whose "angel-like voice" (New York Times), as well as his stage presence are truly one of a kind. In the song "Crne Oci" Vreco and the Royal Street Orchestra are forming a perfect symbiosis and treading a new and exciting path together, bringing to light a result which is bigger than the sum of its parts!!! "Live at Utopiastadt" is a real and genuine live album like they used to be done back in time... No overdubs, no editing, no tricks!!!
