Here’s a list of the songs on ‘Quiet Mans’ new album, Power Of The Moon. I wanted to tell you about the inspiration behind the lyrics and how they were created. Treading Water…. Lyrics by Neil Neil wrote this song for those moments in life when you just have to go through the stuff that’s coming your way, when nobody else can help you and you just have to get on with it. It’s a reminder to all, that your mind doesn't always have to be where your body is. Power Of the Moon…. Lyrics by Kia The moon is the most amazing thing ever! I love the moon and the night sky, I love the thick quietness of the night. It makes me feel magical and timeless. I wrote a poem all about it and a little while later a very good friend of mine, Rhianna, a gorgeous Welsh singer song writer, suggested I use it for my first song… so I did. Rhianna helped me arrange some of the lyrics into song form and we spent the afternoon having fun and making the basis of a tune to go with it. Free Man…. Lyrics by Neil Free Man’s lyrics started compiling in the hot Arizonian sunshine some years back when Neil was there on holiday. He was amazed with the contrast of the farming in the desert. On one side he looked at the huge big commercial farms, and on the other, the sun beaten face of the time old tradition of the free man. I know which one influenced him more. Sacred Earth…. Lyrics by Neil Another of Neil’s songs that started life in Arizona. This time it was the loss of identity and clearly destructive influence the white man had on the native Indians, which inspired these lyrics. The song spans three generations of obvious forced changes, damage to our mother earth and lying promises. Fire In Your Eyes… Lyrics by Neil Neil wrote this song to a close friend of his, who at the time was battling his own demons. Alfie’s Song This instrumental was written by Neil when his son was born. It paints a colorful and very beautiful spring time portrait. Autumn leaves A stunning and very clever piece of music written by Neil and Ched. Don’t Look Away….. Lyrics by Kia I wrote Don’t look away to explain the hopeless feeling of not be able to get through to someone you love, someone who can’t see you anymore. Emotional neglect and abuse is such a common yet very misunderstood issue. There are no winners or losers, there’s just damage. I believe more people need to be educated not only to protect themselves but to be able to recognize it happening and protect others too. Thank You... Lyrics by Neil After nearly 30 years of marriage, Neil finally got round to writing his wife, Karen, a song. It talks about their life together, and what it has meant to him. It’s a great song… but it would have to be, Karen has waited to long for it to be rubbish! I Feel Cold Today…. Lyrics by Kia I wrote these lyrics after an unsuspecting comment I made to Neil about the minus temperatures going on this winter. He decided it had great depth and needed exploring more. So I put pen to paper and came up with an intertwining story that I think we can all relate to from some time in our lives, the story of when a relationship goes cold, when you get those days when the fires of hell couldn't warm your cold and aching heart.
